José Gustavo Mallol Gasch earned his Ph.D. in Chemical Sciences from Universidad Jaume I in Castellón, where he has been Assistant Professor of Chemical Engineering for over 16 years.
He has headed the Area for Industrial Processes at the Institute of Ceramic Technology (ITC-AICE), where he has worked since 1989. Since 2013 he has been Director of the Ceramic Industry Research Association (ITC-AICE).
He has co-authored 53 research papers, published in national and international scientific journals, and 64 communications at conferences on ceramic technology topics, in addition to co-authoring 7 books in this field. He has participated in 71 R&D and technology consultancy services projects funded by public and private organisations. Co-inventor of three equipment items relating to chemical engineering and ceramic technology, he has delivered 14 refresher and updating training courses for ceramic technicians, some of these involving multiple reruns.
In 2012 he won First Prize in Technology Transfer for his development: “Control technology of the presses used in ceramic tile manufacturing”, selected out of 27 innovative technologies from different countries, awarded by the Tecnargilla international trade fair at Rimini (Italy), world leader in this field, in the Ceramic TTD Awards. The awards are a tribute to the best and most innovative research projects in ceramics, on an international scale, with industrial application.
