THE DEADLINE EXPIRED LAST FRIDAY FOR SUBMISSION OF THE ABSTRACTS OF THE PAPERS AND POSTERS TO BE PRESENTED DURING THE CONGRESS
More than 130 abstracts from different countries were received by the QUALICER Technical Secretariat.
QUALICER 2012 will be held at the Castellón Chamber of Commerce on 13 and 14 February 2012.
Friday 27 was the deadline for those wishing to participate as speakers at QUALICER 2012 to submit the ‘outline’ of their oral presentation to the Technical Secretariat of the Congress. To date, more than 130 abstracts of oral and poster presentations have been received for the QUALICER 2012 programme.
This is excellent news, because ‘the pace at which the abstracts have come in resembles that of previous events. It is a very good number because, since there are always abstracts that arrive late owing to technical problems and emails are still being counted that are coming in from abroad, there will certainly be over 140 presentations’, according to Enrique Forcada, member of the QUALICER Organising Committee.
At the last QUALICER meeting, held in February 2010, a total of 141 studies were submitted.
The communications to be presented at QUALICER may be in the form of a paper or a poster. The International Technical Committee studying the abstracts (with a maximum length of 500 words) will now start a period of evaluation, in the month of June, in order to notify authors of their acceptance.
The deadline for submission of the complete and definitive papers and posters is 25 September 2011, in order to enable the Technical Committee to make the final selection in the month of October, for their inclusion in the QUALICER 2012 programme. QUALICER is a two-yearly conference that has been organised since 1990 by the Castellón Official Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Navigation and the Castellón College of Industrial Engineers. It is devoted to the ceramic industry and, in the course of its 11 meetings, it has brought together more than 5,500 delegates from all over the world.

PRESENTATION OF THE QUALICER 2012 TECHNICAL COMMITTEE
The official presentation of the members of the International Technical Committee of QUALICER 2012 took place at the College of Industrial Engineers headquarters on Thursday, 19 May, in the presence of business leaders from the ceramic tile, machinery, and ceramic frit and glaze sectors, as well as political representatives and delegates from the different associations and organisations collaborating with the Congress. This initial public event signals the start of the countdown to the inauguration of the Congress. For the 2012 meeting, entitled ‘Green is growing’, QUALICER will be focusing its technical programme on issues relating to sustainability and the environment
During the presentation of the Technical Committee, Salvador Martí Huguet, President of the Castellón Chamber of Commerce and Co-president of the QUALICER Congress, highlighted the key work performed by the experts who analyse the submitted papers and posters in the months leading up to the Congress: “I should like to take this opportunity to thank all who have accompanied us today in the presentation of the Technical Committee, because it is the best way of demonstrating the interest that exists in the Congress further pursuing the path on which it set out 22 years ago. Some people have left the Technical Committee, while others have come on to the Committee; however, we are sure that we have the best professionals, who will be providing the conference with the rigor that it deserves.” Javier Rodriguez Zunzarren, President of the Official College of Industrial Engineers and Co-president of the QUALICER Congress, in turn noted: “Through QUALICER we are continuing our pursuit of a well-grounded internationalisation, as embodied in this conference on ceramic quality. The meeting’s objective is to enhance ceramic quality for everyone and, hence, the quality of life for everyone. Let it be clear that our interest lies in collaborating, in harmony, in the growth of the global economy, but never in the growth of some countries entailing the break-up of the economies of others. Economies that were achieved with effort and sacrifice.”

QUALICER IS RETURNING IN 2012 WITH RENEWED ENERGY
The Organisation is working on QUALICER 2012, which will be showcasing the latest trends and innovations in the ceramic sector.
At the most prestigious global encounters and forums, ceramic tile sustainability is being increasingly forefronted. The ‘green’ current is streaming through all sectors and impacts not only industry but also society, changing the way of life and consumption habits of clients who are more sensitive to ecological and environmental issues.
At its February 2012 meeting, QUALICER will be attaching particular importance to the ‘green’ issue, a subject on which ceramic tile has much to say.
Green is Growing Edition
* What will the future of the green building market look like? * How should the tiling industry develop in a sustainable setting? * What does energy efficiency really mean? * What products is the ceramic sector preparing for an increasingly aware consumer? * How does the tile manufacturing sector contribute to the sustainable development of the planet? * How can we highlight ceramic tile recyclability? * What role will ceramic coverings play in tomorrow’s home? * What role will the organisations for the evaluation and certification of sustainability in building construction play? * What does the future hold in store for eco-design?
